The Alchemical Transmutation of Space

"The center is everywhere, the circumference nowhere" … old occult maxim

Geocentric? Heliocentric? Antrhopocentric?

We are the primary sensory organs of this plane of existence. We are integral to the life of this planet, the current life wave structure. Plants, animals, insects, are all organic parts of that which we are a part of. They are all as aware, maybe even more aware once one understands primary perceptions. It is our disconnectedness that allows our lower ego to manifest our out of phase civilization with its concordant decline in aesthetics.

Before the Copernican Revolution people believed what they experienced, that they lived in the center of the living universe. Copernicus didn’t derive his sun-around-the-earth concept from any actual physically measured proof, he merely reduced the complex observed motions of the planets to their lowest common denominator.

In California in the 1980’s I was studying the history of experimentation of attempts to prove that the earth actually went around the sun. The simplest of experiments indicated that the sun moved, and not the earth.

We are all familiar with the fact that if we put a coin in the bottom of a bowl it will optically shift if we put water into the bowl. This is called the "angle of aberration." It was considered that if the earth revolved around the sun, then one could vertically fix a telescope onto a support of some kind. One would look through it and site a star, then fill the telescope with water and measure the angle of aberration. Six months later, when the earth had moved to the other side of the sun the experiment would be repeated.

A simple calculation of the change of angles and one would be able to measure the distance of the star; yes, even start calculating the size of the universe… but the problem arose that there was no measureable angle of aberration! Rather than rise to the obvious this gave rise to the concept of the ether and the history of the experimental research in search of this ether which was moving the light. No ether was detected, and hence the rising of the theory of Relativity, which arose as a primary function of the disconnection of science from nature; and happened about the same time as the rise of non-objectivism in art.

But wait! How can the earth be the center of the universe? For all practical purposes the Copernican concept of the planets revolving around the sun seems fundamental. We can consider this as the material skeleton of our solar system. But just as a virtual world can be created on a computer, so does the energetic flows of the universe creates something like a virtual world on our planet. That virtual world is the living center of the universe, we are anthropocentric beings.

My experiences indicate to me that the third rock from the sun exists as such. I call it the slave planet. That’s where materialistic scientists, reserve banks with their enslaving debt "money" and the concordant taxmen with fraudulently presented "laws" all exist. In Biblical terms it would be called the kingdom of man, as opposed to the Kingdom of God.

I was meditating in my biodynamic garden in California circa 1990 pondering the geo- and helio-centric universes. I wondered what it would feel like if we really were in the center of the universe… and I had the most wonderful experience of being connected to reality; the sun seemed like a friendly force feeding me, the ground felt stable and firm, the plants and animals magickal beings that surrounded me. I awoke in the center of the universe and felt like I had come home. Insignificance was gone, connectedness was apparent. Common sense and the Common Law became natural points of reference, not a tortured logic that needs to be memorized to be understood.

We are experiencing this "era 2012" galactic alignment phase from our geocentric point of view, yet the whole solar system seems to be undergoing noticable changes. Only a dogmatic belief in the modern acentric worldview would inhibit understanding the energetic possibilities of reality as a functional mandala.

MANDALA

The Tibetan mandala of the Dhyani Buddhas consists of four stages around a central stage, the central stage being the local expression of the bindu-seed in its Dhyani-Buddha form. It can also be conceived in Western concepts as the Ether (localised expression of Kether). The four surrounding stages, the remaining Dhyani-Buddhas, can be seen in many ways, the four phases of the day (dawn, noon, dusk and midnight); the four directions; four stages of life (birth, mid-life, old age and death), the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter), the four ancient elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire), the four modern states of matter (solid, liquid, gas, plasma), the four anthroposophical ethers (Life, Tone, Light, Warmth). This fundamental quadrature structure pervades our earth plane existence.

This is the so-called three dimensional world we inhabit as incarnate humans (there are only two dimensions, Time and Space, but that is another story). However, these Dhyanis are not external entities who have reached the Buddha state of enlightenment, but rather projections of the highest potentials of that which exists as our inherent base emotions and psychological structures in normal day-to-day consciousness (termed the “skandhas”, generally translated as “aggregates of consciousness” or “psycho-constituents of reality”, being Form, Feeling, Perception, Intention and Consciousness together comprising an individual’s total life experience).

The Buddha nature lies within! We are already there, but this inherent state of our being is hidden from us through misunderstanding and by not being able to control our sensory input (due to ignorance).

To understand the basic pattern we'll start with the mandalic colour scheme and their color and day phase relationships.

East blue dawn
South yellow midday
West red dusk
North dark green midnight

Of course this relates to the northern hemisphere where this mandala originates. While doing my research into Goethe's colour theory I realised that the fundamental prismatic colour bands of red/yellow and blue/violet made an interesting polarity. While researching how this unfolds into the Solomon's Seal (interlocked triangles) though both the colour healing work of Dinshah Ghadiali and the electrical researches of Eric Dollard I also began to relate it to the mandala. I realised that the dark green of midnight was much better served by violet, and this allowed the entire mandala to match prismatic colour bands, atmospheric colour phenomena, and electrical phenomena (which has a curious inverse relationship to light, as indicated by Rudolf Steiner, see my Light & Electricity article).

Also, by moving to the southern hemisphere I found that when I drew a meditation circle in space to connect center and periphery  I could no longer do it clockwise (east - south - west - north) without feeling like I was going against the currents. Having studied sundials and astrolabes I realised that "clockwise" only works in the northern hemisphere, as "clockwise" is the opposite direction here, it being the direction of the sun's shadow. Also, the direction of draining water follows the same pattern. To make a long story short I had a "flash" that gave me the following mandala, which I present with Southern hemisphere attributes that I've found a logical fit for.

East

Tone Ether

Health
North
Midday

Light Ether

Wealth
West
Sunset

Warmth Ether
Love
South

Life Ether
Wisdom

- The blue & yellow meet in the day to create green which governs the physical world.

- The red & violet meet in the night to create magenta which governs the spiritual activities of the earth plane.

- The East-West polarity describes how Health and Love are connected, best exemplified in the Taoist Sexual Kung Fu practices.

- The North-South polarity describes how Wealth, the representation of life's activities of survival and support, gives rise to true Wisdom, the foundation that we carry with us through lifetimes.

There is far more to it than this, I feel that both the physical and spiritual sciences find their archetypal relationships within this simple structure. In effect I believe it is the new mandala to replace the ancient teachings. Its impulse into my being had to come from the higher spheres. It could be that it is merely a personal mandala, but if so I don't think it would relate to so many objective phenomena, and have so much scientific data to back up its structure. Dinshah shows the six pointed star with these colours around to be the actual energetic structure of the human body, including glandular & organic functions, so there is both microcosmic and macrocosmic relationships.

I call it the Circle of Four Strengths, those being Health, Wealth, and Love & Wisdom. These names are encompasing rather than specific, i.e. the Wealth quadrant: not for money per se, but for livelyhood which will produce what we need to accomplish our life's goals.

The Axiomatic Nature of Symbols

The symbol at right is one that I have derived from many years of study. It comprises:

  • One black and one white square, the primary duality of light and dark, as well being as the basic card layout requisite for prismatic experiments verifying Goethe's theory of colour. In this theory the primary prismatic colours consist of two poles: red-yellow and blue-violet.

  • The red concentric rings are representative of the Warmth Ether

  • The yellow triangle is representative of the Light Ether

  • The blue vortex is representative of the Tone Ether

  • The violet square angle is representative of the Life Ether

As you study the symbol more you will gain various insights into the structure of reality. The Life Ether and the Light Ether form a pattern identical to the Ruler & Compass of the Masonic Arts, which was axiomatically derived from perceiving etheric activities in manifestation. This relates to the Life Ether being in the densest matter, as in the skeleton, the base of physical measurement, and to the Light Ether, the optical receptive and transmitting properties of the eye, that which perceives the horizon.

The diagram above is axiomatic of the perception of the external manifestation of the ethers as introduced to me throught the scientific researches of Rudolf Steiner and his associates such as Guenther Wachsmuth, Lilly Kolisko and Rudolf Hauschka. It is representative of the external higher nature. The internal structure of our body and spirit is represented by the diagram at left which I derived from my study of Goethe & Dinshah's color researches. I like to think of it as the symbol of Homo luminous, the energetic light body that our physical framework forms around.

This is a preliminary excursion into my notebooks. This website is a working document for me to "think out loud" as I try to put all these pieces together for myself. What does this have to do with Alchemy you may ask? Where are we going, what are we doing? The answers cannot merely be put into words. I love this picture, it contains many answers:
